Monthly pair sessions

60 minutes a month with your engineering team to review what regressed, what moved, and what's worth shipping next.

what this is

What it actually is

Once a month I sit down with the engineers on your team for a 60-minute session. We review the prior month's regressions, the citation tracking trends, any incidents that fired through Slack, and the queue of small fixes that have accumulated. We leave the session with an agreed list of what's shipping the next month and who owns each item.

Agencies run monthly status calls where someone reads a deck. The pair sessions are working sessions. We're looking at PRs, debugging entity resolution failures live in RankLabs, and writing schema together. The deliverable of the session is decisions and code, not a meeting summary.

what ships

Deliverables

  • Monthly 60-minute paired session with your engineering team
  • Pre-read sent 24 hours before with regression and citation summaries
  • Decisions log captured in the shared doc each session
  • Action items with owners and target ship dates
  • Recording for engineers who couldn't attend
why it matters

What breaks without it

Without a recurring forcing function, schema work falls behind the next product feature. The monthly session keeps the work in your engineering team's working memory, and gives them a forum to ship the small fixes that don't justify their own meeting. It's the institutional habit that makes the Retainer compound instead of decay.

The failure mode I see in retainer engagements that don't pair: monitoring runs, alerts fire, regressions get fixed reactively, but no one is thinking about the next investment. The session forces that conversation, and the small fixes that come out of it (often four to eight per month) are where most of the compounding happens.

how it fits

How it fits the Retainer

The pair session is where regression monitoring, citation tracking, and the Slack channel converge into action. It's also the continuation of the Sprint's pair-session rhythm, so the working relationship and architectural shared context never have to get rebuilt.

Stop pouring budget into a broken foundation.

If your SEO retainer hasn’t compounded, your AI citations have stalled, or your last technical audit ended in a deck nobody read, that’s not a content problem. It’s an engineering problem. The same engineer who diagnoses ships the fix.
