AI visibility scan

I run your top queries against five AI engines and measure where you appear, where competitors appear instead, and what your citation share looks like today.

what this is

What it actually is

RankLabs runs your priority query set against Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, and Gemini. For each query I record whether you were cited, which URL was cited, what the engine said about you, and which competitors got cited instead. Five engines, same query set, side by side.

Agencies that sell AI visibility tracking usually scrape one engine (often Perplexity, because it's easiest) and call it AI search coverage. Engines parse and cite differently. Perplexity will cite a page Claude ignores. Gemini ranks recency higher than ChatGPT. A single-engine view tells you almost nothing about where the structural problem is.

what ships

Deliverables

  • Citation matrix across 5 engines for your priority query set (typically 50-200 queries)
  • Per-engine citation share vs your top 3 named competitors
  • Verbatim text of how each engine describes you, with source URLs
  • Engines flagged as not citing you at all (the most informative result)
  • Query-by-query notes on whether the failure is content, schema, or both
why it matters

What breaks without it

AI engines are increasingly the first surface a buyer touches. If you're not cited, you're not in the consideration set, and you find out only in attribution-hostile ways: a slow drift in branded search, a softening of high-intent traffic, an inbound rep saying nobody mentions you anymore. By the time it shows up in GA, the citation gap has been compounding for two quarters.

A failure mode I see often: a brand has strong content, ranks well in classic Google, and assumes AI engines must be picking it up. The scan shows zero citations across four of five engines because the schema doesn't resolve. Content is fine. Plumbing is broken.

how it fits

How it fits the Audit

The scan is the before snapshot. If you move into a Sprint, the same query set runs again post-launch as the after snapshot, and the delta is the engagement's measured outcome. Without the baseline, you're shipping schema work blind to whether it moved AI engines. With it, you have a defensible measurement.

If your SEO retainer hasn’t compounded, your AI citations have stalled, or your last technical audit ended in a deck nobody read, that’s not a content problem. It’s an engineering problem. The same engineer who diagnoses ships the fix.
